Rock Hits Isa

Rock Australia recently exhibited at the 15th Annual Xstrata Mt. Isa Expo. The city of Mt. Isa in the North West of Queensland  has a population of over 23,000 and is predominantly focused around the massive Xstrata Mt Isa Mines operation which is one of the largest in Australia.
The Xstrata operation covers underground and surface mining operations as well as processing and smelting. The mineral province of Mt. Isa boasts a full suite of minerals including Copper, Zinc, Lead, Uranium, silver & Gold with both major and junior miners in the area.

The Expo was run over 3 days and with various industry networking events over that period and was well supported by mining suppliers and the local mining community.

The large underground mining fraternity expressed significant interest in the Rock Mesha®, the patented Mesh handling installation system and identified great potential to increase safety levels and efficiencies in operations.

Open cut operations were keen to understand ROCK’s surface drilling and ground support capability, with considerable interest shown in the new MSR 300 Slope Monitoring Radar system. The system which is in use around Australia as well as Indonesia and PNG has a range of over 2.5 km.

The Expo “allowed ROCK Australia to meet potential customers in the area, and illustrate its capabilities to the companies operating in the Mt. Isa mineral province” advised Craig Hall who is ROCK Australia’s Business Development Manager. We have been a long term player in Queensland with our facility in Townsville being in place for many years and the recent opening of our Brisbane facility in 2009.
